I love the chipmunks that live around my house. Love watching them zoom around the patio outside my screened porch. So does my cat.
Today, Darwin had an extra treat when one ventured inside the screened porch. This is what I found:
I opened the door wide and gave the chipmunk a little nudge. He didn’t need much convincing.
Bet he won’t be back.

At least it didn’t actually get in the house proper, that would have been bad. All the way around. Cute little fellow, a little stupid but cute.
I almost thought I was going to have to rescue one of the little one from my yard. It was sitting on the fence between the picket and green plastic fencing behind the wood fence. From across the yard he looked good stuck. I was less than a foot from him before he finally decided to jump down and disappear up the drain spout.
And the door to our house was wide open. I worry about the coyotes and leave the cat with the ability to bolt. (The vet told me local outside cats are getting picked off, but I’m betting the screen wouldn’t stop a hungry coyote.)
A coyote, if hot on the chase might/probably go through a screen but I wonder just how desperate they are that they’d come right up to a house to snatch a cat. But YIKES about having to worry about that in the first place.
Great photos! I’ll have to show you ours of when a squirrel chewed through the screen and came in!
There’s a LOL in that photo…
And I was going to apologize for not being here more, but then I saw you took a bit of a…er…break since last April. Love the new design!
Yes, Pam, it’s been that long.
I too have a hole from squirrels.
You should NEVER EVER leave a bag of peanuts on a screen porch.
We came home to find 5 squirrels circling the porch like those circus guys on motorcycles in the wire cage… Panicked squirrels in a confined space. Not a good thing.
